Grass All-Stars Look Good
With the ending of the indoor season, a lot of the indoor players have come out to give grass volleyball a try. Those players consist of the GRASS ALL-STARS. They took care of business in their opening match, sweeping the TURF TEARERS. It was a dominating performance, they only let TT score 6 points at the most and even swept them 15-0 in one game.

In the second match, the SNT’S, returned from the spring season. One of the league’s best from the spring, they took care of the T-BOLTS 3-1.

Next week, we’ll get to see SUNS OUT GUNS OUT and the GREEN BAY PACKERS.

T-Bolts get their First Win
Two new teams graced us with their presence. The GREEN BAY PACKERS took on the TURF TEARERS for their first match of the season. They were pretty rusty as they lost 3 out of 4 of the games. The TURF TEARERS did remarkably well for being a completely different team than last week. The players that showed up last week did not show up this week, except for the player of the game-Sarah.

SUNS OUT GUNS OUT also opened their season up. They took on the T-BOLTS. The T-BOLTS only had four players but that didn’t stop them. They won the first two 15-11 and 15-13. The SOGO won their first game 17-15 to make it 2-1. But the T-BOLTS won the deciding fourth game 17-15; they improved to (1-1) on the season.

The SNT’s tried their luck against the GRASS ALL-STARS. The SNT’S just come out of the spring Wednesday league taking second place. The GRASS ALL-STARS were up for the challenge. They lost the first game 15-7, but stormed back to win the next three to take the match. They now are (2-0) on the season, and the SNT’S are (1-1).

For the last game of the night, the GREEN BAY PACKERS took on the SUNS OUT GUNS OUT. Both teams lost their openers, so the match was wide open. SOGO won the first three games and were looking for the sweep. But the GBP stepped up and won the fourth game 16-14. With the loss, GBP have taken the cellar position in the standings at (0-2). SOGO has improved to (1-1), tied with 4 other teams.

Rain Can't Stop Us
Volleyball was back in action! In the first match, the GRASS ALL-STARS lived up to their name with they great games. They defeated the T-BOLTS 3-1. The first game, the T-BOLTS won 15-13 but wouldn’t win again. Scott Bolt should up after the first game and was the swing player that the ALL-STARS needed. They would win the next three games 15-5, 15-8, and 15-10.

On the other court, SUNS OUT GUNS out defeated the TURF TEARERS 3-1. The TURF TEARERS won game two 15-13 to even it up at one to one. Game three and four would go back the SOGO 15-10 and 15-8. The win has moved SOGO to (2-1) on the season and the TURF TEARERS to (1-2).

The GREEN BAY PACKERS only showed up with two of their original team players. They got some help from other players in the league to help fill the squad. It didn’t matter for the SNT’S. They didn’t want to win by forfeit, so they played all of the games. They ended up getting the sweep 4-0 anyway. Tempers started to flair after a lift call. Luckily no one had to go to the hospital. SNT’s have moved to third place with a (2-1) record and the TURF TEARERS are in fifth at (1-2).

SUNS OUT GUNS OUT had a double header, so they played the newly formed LEFTOVERS. Both teams would take turns winning each game. It ended up being a 2-2 tie. SOGO’s record moved to (2-1-1) and the LEFTOVERS are (0-0-1).

SNT/Suns Out Guns Out Splits
It was a pretty good day for volleyball, well for the first hour anyway. In the first match of the evening, the SNTS won the first two games against SUNS OUT GUNS OUT. But SOGO came back in the next two games to even up the series at 2-2. This was a pretty evenly matched match. The teams are ranked second and third.

On the other court, the LEFTOVERS took down the GREEN BAY PACKERS 3-1. The PACKERS managed to win the first game, but lost the next three. The LEFTOVERS look to be a team that will fit right in the mix.

SOGO had another double header. They played the GRASS ALL-STARS. SOGO played a really good first game and won 15-6. But it might have been a warm up game for the ALL-STARS because they won the next three by a good margin. With the win, the ALL-STARS remain undefeated at (3-0). SOGO moves to (2-2-2).

In the last game, the T-BOLTS played some pretty good ball defeating the TURF TERRORS 3-1. In the deciding 5th game, the TT tried to tie the series up, but couldn’t quite pull it off, losing 14-16.

Everyone is Getting Better!
Just three games today. The GRASS ALL-STARS managed to sweep the LEFTOVERS. The LEFTOVERS almost pulled out the last game, but lost 15-13. The GAS remains undefeated at (4-0).

The SNTS and the TURF TERRORS went at it again. Security was on call for this match, based upon the incidents that happened last time these two teams played each other. But the game went smoothly without any hiccups. TT won the first game 17-16. The SNTS bounced back and won the next two games. In the final game, TT got up by a lot. SNT started to come back, but they couldn’t do it and lost 15-12.

The GREEN BAY PACKERS and the T-BOLTS played in the last game. The PACKERS are still looking for their first win of the season. They started out hot and won the first two games. The T-BOLTS answered back winning the last two games to force the tie. The PACKERS will have to wait for next week to get that win.

Leftovers Gain Momentum
The GRASS ALL-STARS got their toughest matchup of the season yesterday. They took on the LEFTOVERS. The LEFTOVERS dominated game one with a 15-6 win. GAS returned with a 15-13 win in game two. GAS then dominated game three, winning 15-6. The LEFTOVERS were able to tie the match up with a 15-9 win in game four. This was the first tie for GAS and the closest they came to losing, they are now (5-0-1). The LEFTOVERS were then (1-1-2).

SUNS OUT GUNS OUT returned after their bye week last week. They took on the GREEN BAY PACKERS. The PACKERS are stilling looking for their first win. This match was back and forth, SOGO won games one and three and the PACKERS won games two and four. The match ended in a tie 2-2. SOGO is now (2-3-2) and the PACKERS are (0-4-2).

The TURF TEARERS took on the SNTS. This match would end just like the other ones, in a 2-2 tie. The SNTS won the first two games-both were close. It looked like they would win the match, but the TURF TEARERS pulled it together and won games three and four to force the tie. It was almost as close as you could get it; the cumulative score for both teams was 55-56. Even with the tie, the SNTS are still in second place. TT is in sixth place.

The LEFTOVERS changed fields to take on the T-BOLTS for their second game of the night. The LEFTOVERS didn’t have much trouble, sweeping the BOLTS in four games. The LEFTOVERS improved to (2-1-2). The T-BOLTS dropped to (2-3-1).

Packers Win their First
The best game of the day was the first game of the day. The GREEN BAY PACKERS took on the T-BOLTS in a very close contest. The PACKERS came in without winning a match all season. The T-BOLTS came in with a (2-3) record. The BOLTS won the first game 15-12, but the PACKERS came back and won the next two. The BOLTS controlled game four for most of the game and got up 13-11. But with some good serving, the PACKERS scored 4 straight to won the game and the match. They finished the regular season at (1-4-2). The BOLTS finished at (2-3-2).

The other three matches all ended in sweeps. The LEFTOVERS swept the SUNS OUT GUNS OUT and the SNTS. The GRASS ALL-STARS swept the TURF TERRORS.

Congratulations to the GRASS ALL-STARS for winning the regular season and taking the first seed. But can they win the playoffs?

Higher Seeds Advance
It was the first round of the playoffs! Fortunately, for the higher seeds, they were not upset. In the 4/5 matchup, it was SUNS OUT GUNS OUT defeating the fifth ranked T-BOLTS 3-1. The win advanced SOGO to the semifinal against number one seeded GRASS ALL-STARS.

Number two ranked LEFTOVERS defeated seventh ranked TURF TEARERS 3-1. The TEARERS won the second game, so it looked like it could get interesting, but then lost the next two to lose the match.

Number three ranked SNTS swept the sixth ranked GREEN BAY PACKERS. The PACKERS had their chance in the first game, losing 15-17. But after that it was all SNTs. The SNTS and the LEFTOVERS will play in the second semifinal next week!

Leftovers Win Championship
It was a beautiful night to end the season. In the first semifinal match, the number four seeded SUNS OUT GUNS OUT came to play. They took on first ranked GRASS ALL-STARS. SOGO won the first game but lost the next two. In the must win game four, they were able to pull it out 15-13 to force a deciding game five. The last game went the distance as both teams were knotted up at 16. With the whole season on the line, SOGO was able to win the deciding point and the match 3-2. They advanced to the championship.

In the other semifinal, it was the LEFTOVERS sweeping the SNTs. They wasted very little time winning the match and getting the sweep.

The championship wasn’t as exciting as the first semifinal, but it was very competitive to say the least. The LEFTOVERS won the first game 15-13. SOGO came back and won the second game 15-10. The LEFTOVERS followed suit and won the third game 15-12. This time SOGO didn’t have comeback magic. They would lose the fourth game 15-4 and the match 3-1.

Congratulations to the LEFTOVERS for starting late and finishing first. Fall league is right around the corner!
