Notorious DIG Sweeps Both Matches
It was the opening day of the Sunken Gardens volleyball season. Last week the day was rained out. NOTORIOUS D.I.G. came to play against UP AND OVER. DIG swept them in four games. They didn’t even let the U&O get to the double digits.

TRAUMA INFORMED SCARES just got done playing in the spring league, so they were ready. SEE IT SPIKE IT, a free agent team, was pretty rusty. They won the first game 15-10, but ended up losing the next three to lose the match. It was a great win for TIS, something that didn’t happen very often in the spring league.

The TURF TERRORS didn’t have enough players show up, so they ended up forfeiting to SEE IT SPIKE IT.

The two winning teams faced off with each other for match number two. The first game was neck and neck, but NOTORIOUS DIG was able to pull it out 16-14. One of the players stated that they aren’t going to lose a game all season, but that was close. The next three games weren’t very close, so NOTORIOUS ended up sweeping the match (still haven’t lost a game).

Rain Kills Volleyball
The rain came pouring down to halt all action yesterday. After two games the TURF TERRORS were beating UP AND OVER. Their game has been postponed to July 9th. In the other game, NOTRIOUS DIG beat SEE IT SPIKE IT in game one 15-10. That game will be played next week on July 2nd.

Double Headers
See It Spike It, Turf Terrors, Up and Over
Notorious DIG Ties!
UP & OVER and NOTORIOUS DIG gave each other a good match. In the first game, Up & Over won 15-10 to set the pace. But NOTORIOUS DIG improved in the second game, only lose 15-13. DIG would win the third game and then the 4th game to tie the match up at 2-2. Both teams would get the tie.

The TURF TERRORS were on top of their game. They split the first two games with SEE IT SPIKE IT, but then dominated the last two games to win the match. They are smack dab in the middle of the pack.

The TURF TERRORS turned around and played their make-up game against UP & OVER. UP&OVER was able to pull out the second game in extra points, but that would be the only game they won.

The TRAUMA INFORMED SCARES won their first game against SEE IT SPIKE IT, but lost their second and third. The SCARES were able to rally together to win game four and get the tie.

Double Headers
Notorious D.I.G., Trauma Informed Scares, Up and Over
Turf Terrors in Second Place
NOTORIOUS DIG got back on the winning track, sweeping SEE IT SPIKE IT in four games. SEE IT SPIKE IT came close in the second game, but fell 16-14. NOTORIOUS DIG stays undefeated at seven wins and one tie. SEE IT SPIKE IT is (1-5-2) and in third place.

The TRAUMA INFORMED SCARES and UP AND OVER played on the other court. UP AND OVER won the first two games, but lost the third to make it interesting. But TIS couldn’t win the fourth game, so UP AND OVER took the match.

NOTORIOUS DIG and TRAUMA INFORMED SCARES played back to back. This time DIG lost one game to the TRAUMA INFORMED SCARES, 17-16 in game two. With the loss, the SCARES drop to (1-3-1) on the season.

In the last match, it was UP AND OVER taking on the TURF TERRORS. The teams took turns winning, until it ended in a tie at two games apiece. The TURF TERRORS are now (2-2-1) and UP AND OVER is (1-2-3).

DIG Wins Regular Season
The TURF TERRORS took three from the TRAUMA INFORMED SCARES to win the match. TT finished the regular season at (3-2-3) and in second place. The played a great match right after the first one, splitting with the first place NOTORIOUS DIG. DIG hasn’t lost a match all year, finishing at (6-0-2). The will receive the first round bye.

SEE IT SPIKE IT defeated UP & OVER three games to one. UP & OVER prevented the sweep by winning the last game 15-10. UP & OVER still has the better record finishing in third place. UP & OVER was able to win their next match over TRAUMA INFORMED SCARES. TRAUMA won the first game, but then lost the next three. TRAUMA finished in last place with one win. Let’s see if they can pull off some magic in the playoffs.

Playoffs might start next week on August 6th. I’m still trying to figure out a schedule.

PLAYOFFS View Bracket
Playoffs Underway!
The playoffs are underway. There were only two matches today. Number five ranked TRAUMA INFORMED SCARES took down number four ranked SEE IT SPIKE IT. SISI almost won the second game, but lost 16-14-giving TRAUMA a demanding 2-0 lead. SPIKE IT won the third game, but was unable to make the miraculous comeback. They lost the fourth game which ultimately ended their season.

The TURF TERRORS swept UP AND OVER on the other side of the bracket. The Turf Terrors didn’t hold anything back, winning by double digits in most of their games. They advanced to the championship to be played this week.

The number one ranked NOTORIOUS DIG had a bye and they will take on TRAUMA at 6:00 pm. Championship will follow.

PLAYOFFS View Bracket
Turf Terrors are Champions
The NOTORIOUS DIG took on TRAUMA INFORMED SCARES for the semifinal. DIG had a week of off, so they were well rested. They won the first two games. To stay alive, TIS won the third game 15-13, but lost the fourth game and the match. DIG advanced to the championship.

The championship was an instant classic. The TURF TERRORS were ready to challenge the top seeded NOTORIOUS DIG. TT took the first game 15-9. DIG got their act together and dominated the next two games to take a 2-1 lead going into game four. The TERRORS answered the call and won 15-11 to force a final game five. The TURF TERRORS stayed hot and ended up winning the final game 15-9 and taking the championship!

Thanks everyone for playing, the fall league will be starting on the 27th at Curtis Park.
