Winter 2016 Monday Coed Floor Hockey at Denver University

The Stonecutters got their first win of the season. They took down the Die Hards 9-1. The Die Hards are still looking for their first win of the season.

In the second game, the No Regretzkies stayed undefeated with a two goal advantage over Miracle On Linoleum. It was the first game of the season for Miracle. The No Regretzkies are still undefeated at (2-0).

In the last game, Eat A Big Breakfast took on the Colfax Dumpster Kitties. The Kitties were able to score 8 goals on the powerhouse, but they gave up twelve. Breakfast remains undefeated at (2-0). The Kitties drop to (1-1).

One big final night to finish off the regular season. The Stonecutteres edged out the Ger Hat Tricks in one of the lowest scoring games in Sports Monster history. The 2-1 final put the Stonecutters at (4-2) and secured the 4th seed. But the Geri Hat Tricks finished in fifth place, so both teams will face each other again next week.

The Stonecutters had a double header, so they played the Colfax Dumpster Kitties next. This game was also a close one, but the Kitties pulled out the one goal victory to finish the regular season in third place. They will take on sixth seed Miracle on Linoleum next week.

Eat a Big Breakfast finished the regular season unbeaten, as they fended off number two No Regretzkies. Both of the two losses that NR has gotten this year came from Breakfast. It wouldn’t be surprising to see these two teams in two weeks.

Miracle on Linoleum got their first win of the season, defeating the Die Hards. The Die Hards finished without a win. They will take on the No Regretzkies next week. Miracle will take on the Kitties. That game should be pretty competitive, when both teams played each other in the regular season, the Kitties won 13-12.

The Spring Season is up and open for registration. Make sure to register as soon as possible to get the “Early Registration Discount.”

What a finish to the Winter season! Powerhouse Eat a Big Breakfast was very low on players. They were missing half of their roster. The Stonecutters took advantage of the half-padded goalie and the extra man advantage. (Breakfast only had one female.) In the end, the Stonecutters knocked out Breakfast. It was the first time that Breakfast never made the championship-as far as I know.

No Regretzkies took on Miracle on Linoleum in the other semifinal. Miracle scored early, but then it was an onslaught after that. Regretzkies would advance.

The Stonecutters were ready for the championship. They played with a ferocity that I have never seen, and probably shouldn’t ever see, based on our insurance policy. Their up temp game mixed with their reckless abandon was able to give them a 4-2 lead with seven minutes left in the game. That’s when Zac Biondi came alive to score two goals to tie it up. The Stonecutters then scored another goal right after the faceoff to give them a 5-4 lead. With a minute left, No Regretzkies pulled their goalie. The strategy worked, as they were able to score and tie the game up at 5-5. The game would go into overtime.

As overtime rules state, but teams drop a male from the game. It took little over a minute before Julia Fuller slapped in the winning goal off of a rebound. This was No Regretzkies second championship.
