Summer 17 Tuesday Advanced Rec Basketball @ DU/DJS

This weeks games started off with I'm Talking About Practice competing against the Slugs. I'm Talking About Practice was able to jump out to a solid lead in the beginning thanks to their defensive efforts. As a team, they were able to stay focused and get steals from their opponents. They were up 29-14 at the half and cruised to an overall 59-29 win. The next game was between Foods That Start With the Letter Q and Schrempf Cocktail. Foods That Start With the Letter Q jumped out to a 32-13 point lead at the half as Schrempf Cocktail couldn't seem to find their shots. Foods That Start With the Letter Q later found themselves with a 62-42 victory. To end the night, the Jackson 8 played the Red Devils. The score at the half was 10-27 in favor of the Jackson 8. Their teamwork and ability to make the extra pass to an open teammate allowed them to get the 54-24 point win.

The night began with Foods That Start With the Letter Q against the Jackson 8. FTSWTLQ made great cuts and followed their shots, which allowed them more opportunities to score. The Jackson 8 really worked well by making the extra pass to fellow teammates. The competition was tight for the most part, but late turnovers by the Jackson 8 got the better of them and the final score was 57-41 in favor of FTSWTLQ. The next game was between Schrempf Cocktail and the Slugs. Both teams started out cold, but were able to find their shots as the game went on. This game was a great match up as the half time score was 22-24 Schrempf Cocktail. The second half was just as close as the game came down to a last second shot at the buzzer! Schrempf Cocktail made a nice cut at the basket for a layup at the end to get the 1 point win over the Slugs. The Slugs were not done for the night as they played again, this time against I'm Talking About Practice. The Slugs seemed defeated from their previous heart breaker which allowed I'm Talking About Practice to extend the lead to 25-17 at the half. I'm Talking About Practice really rebounded the ball well and that seemed to be working for them. However, the Slugs got their second wind with about 5 minutes left in the game and came back for the 44-41 win.

Tuesday night began with the Red Devils against Schrempf Cocktail. Schrempf Cocktail did a great job of making hustle plays and focusing on their free throws where the Red Devils found success in driving to the hoop. The extra effort given by Schrempf Cocktail allowed them to get a 55-32 point win for the night. The second game was between the Jackson 8 and I'm Talking About Practice. The first half was tight as there were multiple lead changes. At the end of the half, it was a 4 point game in favor of I'm Talking About Practice. Both teams continued to attack the basket well in the second half, but too many missed opportunities got the best of the Jackson 8 and the final score was 43-62 in favor of I'm Talking About Practice. The last game of the night was between Foods That Start With the Letter Q and the Slugs. FTSWTLQ came out hot with a 13-0 run to start the game. It seemed as if they could not miss as the score at the end of the half was 46-15 FTSWTLQ. The Slugs did not give up despite their difficult start. They increased their pressure and were able to outscore FTSWTLQ by 7 in the second half. This was not enough as the final score was 68-44 FTSWTLQ.

Playoffs begin! We started the night with the game between the Jackson 8 and Schrempf Cocktail. This was a good match up as the game was pretty close. The Jackson 8 did a good job of working the ball around and staying patient for good ball movement. The Jackson 8 were up by 6 at half time. In the second half, Schrempf Cocktail was able to hit important shots to get the game back to within one point and take the lead with a crucial steal. The Jackson 8 were forced to foul and Schrempf Cocktail got the 40-47 win. The next game was between the Red Devils and the Slugs. These teams played different styles throughout the game. The Slugs focused more on getting in the paint where the Red Devils found success in their outside shots. In the end, the Slugs won with a score of 60-40. Good luck in the next round of playoffs!
