And So It Begins
Game Time!
The Wednesday league is underway! In the first game, the SILLY NANNIES came out smoking. They hit three after three to lead for most of the game. LOS POLLOS HERMANOS kept the game close though, as they kept pounding the ball inside and making the small bunny shots. John Spight took the player of the game honors with his hot shot shooting. In the end, LPH couldn’t keep up as they lost 63-52.

In the second game, I GET DOWN played a no rest offense that seemed to be in their favor. Whenever they could run with the ball-they did. The WILDCATS kept up with them for the most part, but not for 40 minutes. IGD took the win, led by DILLON JENKINS.

The third game of the night was special. The BOOGEYMEN and the INVERNESS WARRIORS was a match made in heaven. Both teams needed to settle down and watch their body control. Both teams got a lot of fouls that were due to bad positioning. It was clear that whoever could control the ball better was going to win the game, but neither team did. Forty minutes couldn’t decide this game, as it ended in a tie. The INVERNESS WARRIORS’ Jahar Staples got the player of the game honors.

In the last game of the night, the NINJA BALLERS tied HI-ALTITUDE FLOORING. The NINJA BALLERS got a ten point lead heading into the halftime, but lackadaisical fouls started to pile up for the BALLERS. HAF started to come back with smart shot selections and ball control. Once they tied the game back up, the NINJAS played smarter and more under control. Both teams would trade baskets after that but neither team would win. Nick Anderson got player of the game honors for the NINJA BALLERS.

Flash Flooding Closes Gym

Wednesday, July 1

Ninja Ballers are Ninja Good
Basketball is back on after a torrential flood last week. Nate Elbert led his team to victory over the BOOGEYMEN. The B-MEN kept it close through most of the game; they played a lot better than their first week disaster.

The SILLY NANNIES squeaked out the victory over the INVERNESS WARRIORS in one of the most exciting games I’ve seen all year. With seconds left, the NANNIES were able to score and take the lead by one point. The WARRIORS brought the ball down and shot up a 17 footer to win the game, but it hit off of the back of the rim and didn’t fall. The NANNIES won by one. The WARRIORS also played a lot better than their first game.

HI ALTITUDE FLOORING defeated I GET DOWN in another close game. It wasn’t as close as the previous game, but it was anyone’s game throughout. The win gave FLOORING their first win of the season and gave IGD their first loss.

In the last game, the WILDCATS took down LOS POLLOS HERMANOS. Joey took the player of the game honors. The WILDCATS are now (1-1) on the season, while LPH dropped to (0-2).

Silly Nannies On Top
I GET DOWN defeated the NINJA BALLERS for our first contest. RORY was the player of the game. It was a good bounce back for IGD after losing last week. It was the first loss for the NINJAS as they move to (1-1-1). IGD is now in second place with a (2-1) record.

In the second game, the WILDCATS defeated HI ALTITUDE FLOORING. Christian and Earl lead the way for the WILDCATS, with great three point shooting. FLOORING hung around throughout the game, but the WILDCATS were too much. The WILDCATS improved to (2-1) and the HAF dropped to (1-1-1).

The CHICKEN BROTHERS were missing some key players, and had to try to play with five guys. The INVERNESS WARRIORS had a strong team of 8 players that subbed regularly. The WARRIORS took control of the game in the second half and ran away with it. The WARRIORS are now (1-1-1) and LOS POLLOS HERMANOS are (0-3).

For the nightcap, the SILLY NANNIES remained undefeated with a strong performance against the BOOGEYMEN. The NANNIES are the last undefeated team in the league, but that’s not saying much when you look at who they’ve played. Their opponents combined record is (1-6-1). Next week we’ll have a better understanding on the league when they play I GET DOWN.

Silly Nannies Hold off I Get Down
The SILLY NANNIES downed I GET DOWN in a hard fought battle. I GET DOWN came into the game with the worse record, but the SILLY NANNIES strength of schedule has been pretty low in the early rounds of the season. So, it really was anyone’s game. It came down to the last minute, but the NANNIES were able to get the win and keep their undefeated season intact. IGD is now (2-2).

LOS POLLOS HERMANOS got their first win of the season, defeating the BOOGEYMEN. The B-MEN were able to keep it a close game, but LPH was too strong down the stretch. Both teams came into the game without having a win yet. Now LPH sits in seventh place and the B-MEN are in eighth.

The WILDCATS pounced on the NINJA BALLERS. It was an intense game, despite what the score says. The WILDCATS, definitely a frontrunner, ended up winning the game by twenty and are now (3-1). The NINJA BALLERS drop to (1-2-1).

HI ALTITUDE FLOORING took down the INVERNESS WARRIORS. Both teams came into the game trying to figure out where they stand; both had records of (1-1-1). But it was FLOORING that was able to take the game by seven points. They are now sitting in third place, but third through sixth are all equal caliber teams.

Wildcats Win Another
The WILDCATS were short on players, but that didn’t affect them that much. They took care of the BOOGEYMEN, winning by double digits. The game was still up for grabs throughout the second half until Tristan started to drain the long ball. He had 3-4 threes down the homestretch to put the CATS up by ten. They would eventually win by twelve and improve to (4-1) on the year. The BOOGEYMEN dropped to (0-4-1).

I GET DOWN defeated the INVERNESS WARRIORS in a high tempered matchup. The game was close until the WARRIORS started to lose their composure. They received two technical fouls after common fouls were called on I GET DOWN. The freethrows started to add up and after a disqualification the WARRIORS had to play four on five for the last ten minutes. This is when I GET DOWN pulled away. IGD improved to (3-2) and the WARRIORS drop to (1-3-1).

The SILLY NANNIES stayed undefeated, defeating HI-ALTITUDE FLOORING in a great game. The NANNIES kept pulling away, but FLOORING would make an adjustment and get right back in it. With some big three pointers in the last minute, FLOORING managed to only lose by three. FLOORING is now (2-3) and the NANNIES are (5-0).

In the last game, the NINJA BALLERS beat LOS POLLOS HERMANOS in what turned out to be a fairly close game. Early in the game, the BALLERS got up by twenty points and it looked like the mercy rule might be implemented. But late in the second half, the HERMANOS came back with big three pointers and good defense to bring it to a five point game. They wouldn’t pull it off though. They are now (1-4) and the BALLERS are (2-2-1).

Boogeymen forfeited to HI Altitude Flooring.
Wildcats over Warriors in Battle
The WILDCATS had their hands full with the INVERNESS WARRIORS. The game was close throughout, despite the long range shooting by the WILDCATS. The WILDCATS pulled away in the last minutes, but the WARRIORS stayed with them. With the WILDCATS double teaming Marvin, they forced him to travel, giving the ball back to the WILDCATS with twenty seconds remaining. The WARRIORS fouled and put the WILDCATS on the free throw line. They hit the free throws which eventually put the game out of reach. The WILDCATS improved to (5-1) on the season. The WARRIORS drop to (1-4-1).

The BOOGEYMEN failed to field a team, so they forfeited to HI ALTITUDE FLOORING.

I GET DOWN wasted little time with LOS POLLOS HERMANOS. IGD got up by ten points early and never slowed down. They got up by 28 points with ten minutes left in the game and then LPH started to play great. They hit some big threes and battled back to eventually lose by 23. IGD improves to (4-2) and LPH is (1-5).

In the last game, the SILLY NANNIES waited for the second half before they pulled away. They won again-staying undefeated at (6-0). The NINJA BALLERS are (2-3-1).

Boogeymen forfeited to I Get Down.
Flooring Wins despite low Attendance
HI ALTITUDE FLOORING was missing most of their squad. They played the first half 4 on 5, but it didn’t seem to faze them. They played smart and conservative to get into halftime with an even score. At halftime, two of their other players showed up. This was the difference maker, as they pulled away in the second half to win the game. LOS POLLOS HERMANOS played a good game, despite the loss. LPH finished in seventh place, so they did not qualify for the playoffs. FLOORING finished in 4th place and will take on the INVERNESS WARRIORS next week.

In the second game, it was two powerhouse teams going up against each other. The undefeated SILLY NANNIES played smart throughout the whole game. They led for most of the game, even getting up by ten points around halftime. The WILDCATS calmed down and started to make a comeback. They brought the score to within four points with three minutes remaining. From there though, their shots didn’t go in. The WILDCATS were forced to foul. The NANNIES would take the victory and finish their regular season undefeated and get the first seed for the playoffs. The WILDCATS finished in third due to point differential.

The INVERNESS WARRIORS took down the NINJA BALLERS in an evenly matched ball game. Both teams only had five players, which meant that fouls could be an issue. And they were for the NINJA BALLERS. With ten minutes left in the game, one ninja fouled out, creating a big mismatch. The WARRIORS took advantage of it and milked the remaining ten minutes. With the win, the WARRIORS go into the playoffs as number five and the NINJA BALLERS go in at number six.

In the last game, the BOOGEYMEN didn’t show up, giving the win to I GET DOWN. I GET DOWN finished the regular season at (5-2) and will get a first round bye as the number two seed. The BOOGEYMEN will not make the playoffs.
